UFG Insurance Scholarship Program

Applicants to the UFG Insurance Scholarship Program must be:

Dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time employees who have a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline.*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Award information:

The awards granted will be $4,000 each for students enrolled in four-year colleges and $2,000 each for students enrolled in two-year colleges or vocational-technical school.
Total awards granted each year will be determined by UFG Insurance.
Awards are not renewable but students are eligible to reapply every year they meet the eligibility requirements.
Students enrolled at a two-year college and vocational-technical school may receive the award up to two years or until a certificate or associate’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
Students enrolled at a four-year college or university may receive the award up to four years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
In addition, students who initially receive an award for a two-year college or vocational-technical school who transfer to a four-year college or university may reapply but may receive no more than four total awards.
Awards are for undergraduate study only

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

Academic record
Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
Work experience and/or home responsibilities
Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
Unusual personal or family circumstances
Online Recommendation

Financial need as calculated by Scholarship America must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of UFG Insurance play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified via email of their status in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of UFG Insurance. Payments are sent to the recipient and made payable to the school. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 9, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.
