Valero Services, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist residents of Houston’s Manchester neighborhood who plan to continue their education in college, vocational school programs, or trade school.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the Valero Houston Scholarship Program must:
*All applicants will be required to submit proof of residency with one of the following documents: a copy of their driver’s license, ID card issued by the state of Texas, a utility or water bill, or high school proof of enrollment form.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to thirty (30) awards will be granted. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Scholarship America will select finalist based upon of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, essay, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need is not considered.
From a pool of qualified finalists, the sponsor will select recipients.
Applicants will be notified within two months of the application period. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Valero Services, Inc. Payments are made prior to the start of the Fall semester.
Award recipients will be given access for a year to WhichWay, a financial literacy tool with interactive financial education modules containing tools and tips that include the following topics:
Participation in Scholarship America’s financial literacy tool, WhichWay is offered to scholarship recipients. Recipients will be invited to register online to participate in financial education activities to help guide a student to financial stability and success.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 1, 2022 3:00 pm CT.
