Varicent E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program
(Equity, Diversity, Growth, Empowerment)
Application status: Closed

The program has reached the cap on applications and is currently closed.

Varicent has established the Varicent EDGE Scholarship Program (Equity, Diversity, Growth, Empowerment) to assist students pursuing a STEM/Technology-related major who plan to continue their education in university, college, CEGEP, or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Varicent E.D.G.E. Scholarship Program (Equity, Diversity, Growth, Empowerment) must:

  • Be high school seniors/students in their final year of upper secondary school, or secondary school graduates, or current college undergraduates (including CEGEP students) located in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Plan to pursue a STEM/Technology-related major including but not limited to: Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, and Mathematics.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four- year college, CEGEP or university or vocational-technical school (or equivalent) for the entire upcoming academic year.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected based on:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Academic evaluation will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, preference will be given to students historically underrepresented in the STEM/Technology Field (students who identify as women, Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Colour).

Provided there are qualified applicants, finalists will be selected in proportion to the number of applicants per country.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Varicent will select recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Up to twenty (20) awards will be granted.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, based on satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent and continued enrollment in the eligible major.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

The award payments will be issued in U.S. currency.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Varicent. Payment is made in early August.
