Voya Investment Management Diversity Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Voya Investment Management has established a scholarship program to assist students at select HBCU partners and the AWD Wholesaler Development Program who are interested in pursuing a career in the financial services industry.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Financial Services Diversity Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Plan to enroll full-time as a 3rd year undergraduate (junior) at one of the following colleges or universities for the entire upcoming academic year:
    • Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
    • North Carolina A&T State University
    • Howard University
    • Morehouse College
    • Spelman College

Be a member of the AWD Wholesaler Development ProgramTM

  • Self-identify as Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; American Indian or Alaska Native American; Asian; or Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander.

Selection of Finalists

Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Preference will be given to students expressing an interest in a future career in the financial services industry including all relevant fields of study (financial technology, economics, data and analytics, marketing, sales, communications, etc.).

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, Scholarship America will select up to fifteen (15) finalists from the eligible colleges and universities and the AWD Wholesaler Development ProgramTM and Voya Investment Management will interview and select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as finalists/recipients.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $10,000 award. Up to two (2) awards of $10,000 each will be granted.

Recipients will be provided a Sponsor mentorship and an offer for a paid internship the summer immediately following their junior year to help prepare them to compete in the job market after college. Employment opportunities will depend on availability and are not guaranteed.

Awards are renewable one year or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance, and continued full-time enrollment in a financial services-related field of study.

Awards are for undergraduate only.

All applicants will be notified in May
