Ware Malcomb Foundation Scholarship

The Ware Malcomb Foundation has created the Ware Malcomb Foundation Scholarship to assist dependents of full-time Ware Malcomb employees who plan to continue their education in two- or four-year college or university, vocational-technical school or CEGEP (or equivalent).

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Ware Malcomb Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time Ware Malcomb employees who have a minimum of three year’s employment with the company as of the application deadline date.

*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current college undergraduates (Students outside the United States must be in their final year of upper or higher secondary school or be current technical or university level students).
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school or CEGEP (or equivalent) for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of officers (executive level only) are ineligible.

Award Information:

  • If selected as a recipient, award amounts will range from $1,000 to $3,000.
  • Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements*.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.
  • Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Ware Malcomb Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in early August to recipients in U.S. and Canada and via wire transfer to recipients outside of U.S. and Canada. Award payments are issued in U.S. currency.

*Per IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47, the employment eligibility requirement does not apply to previous recipients.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Ware Malcomb values teamwork, design, creativity, community involvement, entrepreneurship and the pursuit of excellence. Consideration will be given to children and dependents of Ware Malcomb employees who emulate these values.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Ware Malcomb Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

U.S. and Canadian students:

  1. A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

Students from countries other than U.S. and Canada:

  1. Copy of your current academic record:
    • Students currently or previously enrolled in an institution of higher education (university) must include their academic record (transcript of grades) of all higher education course work completed, and upper secondary school credential/diploma/certificate.
    • Current upper secondary school students and students who have completed less than one year of higher education (university) must include their academic record (transcript of grades) for all upper secondary education course work completed during the past three years – online records must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken, and results of academic examinations.
  2. English translation of all non-English documents. (Students/parents can translate the documents. Please upload the translated document along with a copy of the original document.)

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 13, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through the Scholarship America Student Hub.
