Gertrude F. Weinert Memorial Scholarship Program

The Gertrude F. Weinert Memorial Scholarship has been set up to assist high school seniors at Baldwin-Whitehall High School in Pennsylvania who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants of the Gertrude F. Weinert Memorial Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be high school seniors at Baldwin-Whitehall High School in Pennsylvania.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of the Gertrude F. Weinert family and PNC Bank N.A. employees are ineligible.

Award information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award up to the full cost of attendance for eligible fees.*
  • Awards are renewable for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
  • Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory academic performance of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Award will be utilized for tuition, related educational fees, and required books only. Room and Board is not an eligible expense for this award.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only

*This award is meant to be supplemental to other awards and grants; it will only cover the costs of unmet expenses up to the full amount needed for tuition, books, and qualified fees.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, as trustee of the Gertrude F. Weinert Memorial Scholarship in August.

Scholarship applicants are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, will be considered in determining the amount of each award.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information section of the application. Please black out all social security numbers and bank account information.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 28, 2024 4:00 pm Eastern Time.
