The Charles and Dorothy Wein Memorial Scholarship assists students who are residents of Clarion County, PA and attended Clarion High School during their senior year of high school.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Charles and Dorothy Wein Memorial Scholarship must:

  • Be a resident of Clarion Borough, in Clarion County and its environment.
  • Be Clarion County residents requiring financial aid to assist in training or education beyond high school.
  • Be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

PNC Employees, Children of PNC employees or Trust committee members are ineligible.

Selection of Finalists and Recipients

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will also be considered and must be demonstrated for the student’s application to be considered.

Once finalists are selected, a committee established by PNC Bank, N.A., Trustee, will select recipients. Awards will be granted first to residents of Clarion County, or such areas in Clarion County as the committee may determine.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as finalists or recipients. All applicants agree to accept decisions as final.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award in an amount determined by the Trustee scholarship committee.

Awards are not renewable but students may reapply each year they meet the eligibility requirements.
