Worth It Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Distracted driving is no accident. It’s a choice. The Worth It scholarship program, sponsored by UFG Insurance, gives qualifying high school seniors or current undergraduates an opportunity to reflect on why staying focused while driving is worth it. UFG has partnered with Scholarship America® to administer this scholarship program.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Worth It Scholarship Program must:

  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award, which will be payable to their college. Up to ten (10) awards will be granted.

Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

The program will use selection criteria based on the distracted driving questions, short answer essays and an essay.

Scholarship America will select finalists, and UFG Insurance will determine the recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Financial need will not be considered. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of UFG Insurance. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload a current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.
