YKK AP America Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education at an accredited two- or four-year college, CEGEP or university or vocational-technical school (or equivalent) for the entire upcoming academic year.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the YKK AP America Inc. Dependent Scholarship Program must:
Only one dependent child per employee who meets all eligibility guidelines each year will be eligible for an award.
Dependents of employees of subsidiaries are only eligible for the YKK AP America Inc. Dependent Scholarship Program.
Children of officers are ineligible.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of YKK AP America play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
All applicants will be notified in late May.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of YKK AP America Inc. Payments are made in August.
The award payments will be issued in U.S. currency.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,500 to $2,500. Up to 6 awards will be granted. Assuming there are qualified applicants, up to (3) awards of $2,500 each will be granted to students enrolling in or already enrolled in a four-year college or university (or equivalent) and up to (3) three awards of $1,500 each will be granted to students enrolling or already enrolled in a two year college (or equivalent) or vocational-technical school.
$2,500 Awards: Awards are renewable up to (3) three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance, maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) (including CEGEP) . Parent of dependent must be an Employee at the time any award is granted.
$1,500 Awards: Awards are renewable for (1) one additional year or until a degree or certificate is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Parent of dependent must be an Employee at the time any award is granted.
*Recipients attending a four-year college/university must reapply to the program if transferring to a two- year college or vocational-technical school. Recipients attending a two-year college or vocational-technical school must reapply to the program if transferring to a four- year college/university

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 7, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.
