Jean M. Yokum Scholarship Program

Langley Federal Credit Union has established a scholarship program to assist their members who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

Applicants to the Jean M. Yokum Scholarship Program must:

  • High school seniors who are current members of Langley Federal Credit Union as of December 31, 2018 who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Award information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award to be used for tuition, fees and books only.
  • Up to four (4) awards will be granted.
  • Awards are one-time only.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need as demonstrated by Scholarship America must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Langley Federal Credit Union play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Langley Federal Credit Union processes scholarship payments for the Jean M. Yokum Scholarship Program.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
