Associates' Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program

The Associates’ Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program has been established by the Young Family Foundation to assist Associates’ children who plan to continue education in college programs or seek vocational or technical certifications. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible application are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Associates’ Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time Associates who have a minimum of three (3) years employment with one of the eligible companies (listed below) as of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the Associates’ household or primarily supported by the Associate.

Eligible companies include:

  • Plastipak Packaging, Inc.
  • Absopure Water Co.
  • Waters of America
  • Hydration Source
  • William P. Young Co.
  • Clean Tech, Inc.
  • Whiteline Express Ltd.
  • Tabb Packaging Solutions, Inc.
  • Applicants must be completing their final year of high school/upper secondary school or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical college for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Financial need will be considered.

Award Information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award up to $2,700 (USD).
  • Up to 12 awards will be granted each year.
  • Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment. Awards may not be used for room and board.
  • At least one award will be granted to an applicant from each group of eligible companies as long as there are qualified applicants:
    1. Plastipak
    2. Absopure/Waters of America/Hydration Source
    3. William P. Young Co./ Clean Tech, Inc./ Whiteline Express Ltd./ Tabb Packaging Solutions, Inc.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, and continuation of the program by the Young Family Foundation.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities (if characteristic of country)
  • Honors
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

The academic evaluation for international students will include review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations. This information is evaluated to complete the academic ranking of international applicants.

Financial need will be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or Associate of the eligible companies listed play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified by late May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes Associates’ Sons and Daughters scholarship payments on behalf of the Young Family Foundation. Payments to recipients in the U.S. are made in early August. Recipients outside of the U.S. will receive a wire transfer.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Due to differences in educational systems, applicants from countries other than the U.S. must provide the following materials:

  • Clear photocopies of the following educational documents must be uploaded with the application:
    1. Students currently or previously enrolled in an institution of higher education (university) must include the following documents:
      • Academic record (transcript of grades) for all higher education course work completed – Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken, and
      • Secondary school credential/diploma/certificate.
    2. Current secondary school students and students who have completed less than one year of higher education (university) must include the following documents:
      • Academic record (transcript of grades) for all secondary education course work completed during the past three years – online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all required information. Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through the Scholarship America Student Hub. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship America.
