Achieve Atlanta Completion Grant Program
Application status: Closed

Achieve Atlanta has established a completion grant program to assist Achieve Atlanta Scholars who have exhausted their Achieve Atlanta Scholarship funds and will be completing their degree within the next two terms at an eligible two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Application Grant Survey

Applicants to the Achieve Atlanta Completion Grant Program must:

  • Be an Achieve Atlanta Scholar
  • Be a current college undergraduate* within one or two terms of degree completion (technical, Associates or Bachelor’s degree only)
    • Scholars who received a Fall 2020 completion grant must be graduating Spring 2021*
    • Scholars who have not received a completion grant must be graduating Spring 2021, Summer 2021, or Fall 2021
  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Plan to enroll at an Achieve Atlanta-eligible institution** for spring term

**See supplemental PDF for list of eligible institutions.

Awards
Students pursuing Bachelor’s degrees are eligible to receive up to $2,500 per student for the term. Students pursuing technical and Associates degrees are eligible to receive up to $750 per student for the term.

Students must demonstrate financial need for the spring term using the following calculation: cost of attendance (all school expenses), minus grant aid, minus scholarships. Scholarships and grant aid cannot exceed cost of attendance to demonstrate financial need.

Awards are for the Spring 2021 term. Awards are not renewable; however, if additional funding is made available for future terms of completion grants, applicants may reapply. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Completion grants are made payable to the school. Awards may be considered taxable income to the recipient. Recipients should work with a tax advisor to determine whether or not the award is taxable to them.

Notification
Applicants will be notified of decisions by email in January.

Payment of Grants
Scholarship America processes grant payments on behalf of Achieve Atlanta. Payments are made in one installment in January.

Selection of Recipients
Applicants must provide verification of eligibility criteria to be considered for a completion grant. If application requests exceed funding available, Achieve Atlanta may prioritize additional factors. Confirmation of eligibility criteria will be confirmed with the following documentation:

  1. Transcript for confirmation of minimum 2.0 GPA or equivalent
  2. ‘Degree Works’ or other similar document* for confirmation of course registration for eligible graduation term**
  3. Student financial aid package for confirmation of financial need

*If applicant does not have appropriate documentation, they may have an advisor complete a supplemental PDF form that confirms information needed.

**Previous grant recipients graduating Spring 2021 term are eligible. New grant recipients graduating Spring 2021, Summer 2021, or Fall 2021 are eligible.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  1. Transcript: A current, complete transcript of grades including the most recently completed term. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted but they must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken. Please note that completion grant applicants must submit their Fall 2021 grades. If you are awaiting your Fall 2021 grades, please submit your latest unofficial transcript with grades from Spring/Summer 2021, and then email your unofficial transcript with Fall 2021 grades to completiongrants@scholarshipamerica.org as soon as they are posted. Failure to submit Fall 2021 grades may result in delays in the review of your completion grant application.
  2. Enrollment Form: A Degree Works document, or a completed Enrollment Verification Form. Document must include your expected graduation term and Spring 2021 enrollment verification. If graduation and enrollment information is not solely found on one document, multiple documents may be uploaded.
  3. Financial: A copy of your Financial Aid Award Letter (FAAL) for the current academic year displaying your name, school name, cost of attendance (school expenses) and amount of scholarships and grants awarded; at a minimum spring award information must be visible.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
